Porcelain Coaster and Trinket Dish Workshop

Join Ceramic Designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery for hands on pottery workshop making your own set of porcelain coasters and/or trinket dishes.   

You will spend a relaxing couple of hours learning how to roll out porcelain clay to the desired thickness and cut out your coasters/ trinkets. Followed by how to apply a variety of surface decoration techniques using coloured slips, different tools and objects to create sgraffito, textures and patterns to create your own beautiful set of coasters or trinket dishes. You will be able to practice different decoration techniques and designs onto clay test pieces before decorating your final pieces.

You will have the opportunity to make up to 4 coasters or trinket dishes or you can make 2 of each, plus a couple of practise ones during this workshop. All coasters and trinkets will have a clear glaze applied if desired once they have been bisque fired.  

This workshop is the perfect experience to gift to a loved one or enjoy with friends and embrace some time to yourself getting creative. 

The finished fired size of your coasters will be 10cm x 10cm 

The finished fired size of your trinket dishes will be will be 12 x 12cm for the large and 10 x 10cm for the small.

All abilities welcome and you do not need to have prior knowledge and experience in ceramics. With keeping it to a small group, you will each get one on one support and guidance throughout the workshop.

FAQs

- Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and will be ready to collect from my studio 2-3 weeks following the workshop. I can post them out to you at an additional cost to cover P&P

- Tea’s, Coffee’s and refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop.

- Aprons will be provided but wear old clothes and shoes

If you have any particular designs, patterns and objects for inspiration that you want to work from please bring them along.

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking then this needs to be done at least 14 days prior to the start of the workshop and a full refund will be given. Unfortunately any cancellations made within 14 days prior to the workshop start date are unable to be refunded.

If the workshop has to be cancelled due to illness then you will be offered the option to reschedule the workshop subject to my availability.

Gift vouchers can be sent if you are buying it as a gift for someone. Select the option from the drop down menu if you would like one. They are an additional cost of £1.50 and will be sent out 2nd class within 2 workings days after ordering.
